Thomas Frank arrives at Tottenham at a time when the future remains unclear for a number of players as they approach the final year or two of their contracts.
The Dane will play a key role in what comes next for the players, whether that is in making it clear he has big plans for certain stars within his system or whether there is no real long-term role for them in the 51-year-old's new era at Spurs. He could also play a part in convincing any of those who might want to leave the club that a season under him in the Champions League might just be worth sticking around for.
Those who were out on the fringes under Ange Postecoglou may come into the fold in the Frank set-up while others might find they are less important in the latest new era at the club.

Here are nine Spurs players who will either face contract talks or not in the months ahead.
Son Heung-minThe obvious one here because the Tottenham captain's future remains unclear. Ultimately after 10 years of service and becoming the first skipper to lift a trophy in 17 years and European one in 41 years, Son deserves to decide what his future holds after the club took up the option to extend his contract into its final 12 months.
Frank will have a part to play though when he meets the South Korean superstar. He will explain how much football the attacker, who turns 33 as pre-season training kicks off, will or won't get in the season ahead. There is also another crack at the Champions League to be had if he wants to stay.
Mikey Moorefootball.london reported at the weekend that Tottenham have offered Moore a new contract to replace his current deal until 2027 ahead of his 18th birthday in August, which has kickstarted negotiations between all parties.
Clubs across Europe and England are keeping an eye on what happens with Moore both in terms of a loan for next season or perhaps something more permanent down the line in case a deal cannot be agreed.
Tottenham will want to make sure they lock the youngster down for the long term and Frank will play his part in deciding what happens next season for Moore and whether he gets a loan move to get him regular football. Spurs' struggles with a lack of club-trained players could squash that with the teenager able to be used in both the Premier League and Champions League without taking up a squad place due to his academy status.
Rodrigo BentancurIt seemed telling that Frank mentioned Bentancur in his first interview at the club as a player had been thinking about getting in his team.
Spurs are expected to look to tie down the 28-year-old Uruguayan to a new deal beyond his current remaining 12 months and Frank's feelings on his importance to his team going forward will have played a part in that.
Cristian RomeroAll eyes are on what happens next with Romero and whether any club can offer the sort of money to turn Tottenham's head for a centre-back who was named the player of the tournament in the Europa League as well as man of the match in the final in Bilbao.
The Argentine has indicated a desire to play in La Liga at some point, with Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone very publicly stating his desire to sign the World Cup winner. However, with two years left on his contract Spurs are going to require any serious offer to contain a big number.
It's worth remembering that Spurs have got Champions League football this season for Romero to enjoy and while the defender was close with former head coach Ange Postecoglou, Frank is also a great communicator and loved by all of his players. If he can charm Romero then you can't entirely rule out a new contract for the Argentine.
Yves BissoumaWhile Bentancur got a mention from Frank, Bissouma with 12 months also remaining on his contract did not. After a difficult season, the Mali international eventually came good in Europe in the final weeks of the campaign as he had to step in for the injured Lucas Bergvall.
Inconsistency has plagued his time at Tottenham though and right now it's difficult to see the rationale for extending his contract. However, that's where a new manager can change everything and Frank might be the one to unlock something better from Bissouma if he doesn't depart this summer.
Ben DaviesThe likelihood is that the experienced Welshman will either leave at the end of his contract in 2026 or potentially could yet depart this summer if an offer comes in for his services, despite Spurs taking up the option to extend his deal but its final 12 months.
Davies has given 11 years of service to Tottenham so far and, like Son, should be given the chance to decide what comes next for his career. He was more of a utility man under Postecoglou but he might find a better fit within Frank's system as a rare experienced head. The coming weeks will soon show what's to come.
RicharlisonInjuries have been the scourge of Richarlison's time at Tottenham. The Brazilian, who became a father for the first time this summer, has often made an impact whenever he has played but just 36 Premier League starts across his three years in N17 is not good enough.
With two years left on his deal, Spurs will listen to reasonable offers for the 28-year-old, but he will be looking to make an impact under Frank with the World Cup coming next year. If he can do that then who knows what lies ahead if his injuries are now truly behind him.
Josh KeeleySpurs are expected to try to agree a new contract with the 22-year-old goalkeeper in the coming weeks after a big season on loan at Leyton Orient in League One.
It's a packed goalkeeping department at Tottenham so Keeley is going to have to make a big impression on Frank in pre-season. He's got the ability to do it if a new loan move is not sorted out before the work really gets under way.
Dane ScarlettAnother player on the two years left list when it comes to contracts. With a couple of homegrown players likely to stick around because of those homegrown requirements in the Champions League, it could be a shoot-out between Scarlett and Will Lankshear to remain with Frank and the squad this coming campaign.
For Scarlett, this feels like the season when the 21-year-old needs to show that all of the praise he's received from previous Tottenham managers about his potential was justified. If Frank is impressed then a new contract could follow.
