Rio Ferdinand has weighed in on the speculation that could .
The former captain believes Klopp would've rejected the job out of respect for fans. Despite being linked with the Three Lions following Gareth Southgate's departure after a Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain, Klopp was never seriously considered as a candidate.
The role eventually went to Thomas Tuchel, who signed an 18-month contract starting January 1. , speaking on his YouTube channel, remarked: "Who else was available? Klopp, comes out of Liverpool but I don't think he was quite gettable.
"I don't think he would have wanted to rub it in the face of Liverpool fans, who he's got a wonderful relationship with after all those years. He left under the circumstances of saying he was tired and there were personal issues going on, then jumps into the England job straight away – I don't think that was going to happen."
Klopp has since taken up a new position with Red Bull as head of soccer, which reportedly includes a clause allowing him to leave if the Germany national team job opens up.
"After almost 25 years on the sideline, I could not be more excited to get involved in a project like this," said Klopp on his tie-up with Red Bull. "The role may have changed but my passion for football and the people who make the game what it is has not.
"By joining Red Bull at a global level, I want to develop, improve and support the incredible football talent that we have at our disposal. I see my role primarily as a mentor for the coaches and management of the Red Bull clubs but ultimately, I am one part of an organisation that is unique, innovative and forward looking."
Red Bull's impressive portfolio includes RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls, Red Bull Bragantino, Red Bull Brasil, and they've recently become shirt sponsors for Leeds after acquiring a minority stake in the club.
