Four years on since and made the decision to step back from royal life and move to the USA, the couple could soon be returning to Europe, by purchasing a stunning new holiday home in the region.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are understood to have splashed out on a new property in Portugal, according to the , and it is thought that buying a home in Portugal will allow the Sussexes to get their hands on a 'Golden Visa', giving them visa-free access to the European Union's Schengen area.

Although the reports as yet remain unconfirmed, a move back to Europe could be just the salve Harry’s relationship with his family needs, as it would allow him to reconnect with his cousin who herself owns a home in Portugal. In fact, following the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf last year, Harry and Meghan visited Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank at their home in the CostaTerra and Ocean Club, a luxury development located in Melides, just south of Lisbon - with the couple having enjoyed a “short stay” at the CostaTerra themselves during the trip in a welcome respite from the stress of their lives.

Harry himself has indicated his desire to reconnect with his family in recent months, and with a shorter travel distance, he would also be better positioned to take on a more active role with organisations and causes in the UK that he holds a strong affinity to - something he is believed to have missed while living in the US.

Sadly however, security concerns have stopped the Prince from travelling back to the UK as often as he would have liked, following the withdrawal of his police protection when he stepped down from royal duties. It is also one of the key reasons he has refrained from travelling to the UK with wife Meghan and their two children and , over fears for their safety.
