She was famous for running around a beach in a skimpy red swimsuit, but only now does Pamela Anderson feel comfortable wearing one.

The Baywatch star, 57, says she finds it “freeing” to be so confident in her own skin, having stopped wearing makeup two years ago. Now, she feels empowered.

“I feel like [now] it’s the first time in my life where I feel like if I’m wearing a bathing suit…I feel fine about myself,” she tells Glamour magazine. “It’s so freeing. “I’m lucky because I’ve never really had to worry about my weight or anything like that, but I just... [have] never been 100% confident.” On Tuesday night, the actress turned vegan chef was named one of GLAMOUR’s two Global Women of the Year alongside Serena Williams.

It comes after the star had to mend old wounds when the miniseries Pam and Tommy, starring Lily James as Pamela, recreated the theft of her sex tape made with ex-husband Tommy Lee. “It really felt like another kick in the stomach that people might find that entertaining,” she says now.

Elsewhere at the event last night at London’s Raffles hotel, stars included Girls Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts as well as Big Brother host AJ Odudu.
