Only Fools and Horses reunion teased as Kelsey Grammer plans to get David Jason on Frasier

Kelsey Grammer has hinted at a possible Only Fools and Horses reunion between Nicholas Lyndhurst and Sir in Frasier.

TV fans will recall that the iconic British sitcom ran from 1981 until 2003 on the - taking in 64 episodes across seven seasons. The show starred and as brothers Rodney and Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter.

The series ran concurrently with Iconic American sitcom Frasier which originally aired from 1993 until 2004 - with in the title role of Dr. Frasier Crane. Last year, Kelsey reprised his role in a revival of his sitcom - which drafted in Nicholas to play a character named Professor Alan Cornwall.

The two characters are friends from when they studied at Oxford University and work together in the psychology department at Harvard. Now it has been teased that Nicholas and Sir David could be somehow reunited on screen in the new version of Frasier - with the older star potentially even playing Del Boy.

Kelsey teased the “It makes sense. Who knows? I mean, he could just walk by and say ‘Dipstick’, couldn’t he? It might be really fun to have Alan maybe watching it, watching the old show or something? There’s any number of ways maybe to make the connection, because, of course it is a nostalgic show and Nick has such a huge, huge presence in the UK – with good reason.”

The Frasier actor went on to gush about his co-star, saying: "He’s one of the best actors who ever lived. There’s no question about his abilities and he’s beloved, so we’ll mine that as much as we possibly can." Kelsey and Nicholas sparked up a close friendship after starring in a play in London's West End together five years ago.

Kelsey previously told The Times: "Nick and I fell in love when we were doing Man of La Mancha together [at the London Coliseum in 2019]. I warned them in America. I said, ‘Wait until this guy gets here. You’ll be doing a scene with him and suddenly you realise he’s just run off with it.’ He’s an extraordinary actor, a dear friend. And I am so pleased he’s part of it.”

Nicholas has also gushed over his co-star, previously telling the Radio Times ahead of the second season of the revived series - which began streaming via Paramount+ in September. He said: "Kelsey and I worked together in Man of La Mancha at the London Coliseum. He was sensational. The Coliseum holds two and a half thousand people.

"It’s the largest stage in London and to watch what Kelsey did eight times a week was just stunning. In rehearsals, he said to me, 'If Frasier ever comes back, would you be interested?' My response was, 'Duh! Of course.' That was in 2019, so it’s been bubbling under for quite a long time – I’m very pleased to be part of it."
