Liverpool after learning of the forward's transfer fee.

The Reds have been and it's now looking as though an agreement could be in place judging by the latest reports.

Having banged in 11 goals and provided seven assists in just 13 games in all competitions for Frankfurt this season, has been attracting heavy attention from the ahead of the January transfer window, with a number of clubs believed to be interested in his signature.

But according to Sky Sports DE reporter Florian Plettenberg last week, , with contact having already been made between the player’s camp and the club.

Plettenberg also added that Frankfurt is currently demanding a transfer fee of between $54-65million (£42-51m/€50-60m) for Marmoush - a more than affordable sum for Liverpool.

Fast forward to today, however, and the Bundesliga expert has hinted that a move to Anfield is well and truly on the horizon with his latest post on X (formerly Twitter).

Quoting his tweet from last week regarding the above, Plettenberg inserted the green tick emoji, followed by "#Marmoush #LFC", heavily suggesting that a deal is done between Frankfurt and Liverpool for Marmoush to move to Merseyside.

Given the time of year, it also suggests that the Egypt international could be moving to the club as soon as January, when the transfer window reopens and clubs can sign new players once more.

With , Marmoush's Egypt teammate, leaving at the end of the season on a free transfer as things stand, it appears Liverpool is already making moves to sign his replacement ahead of next summer.

While this isn't to say that Salah will definitely be leaving at the end of the current campaign when his contract expires, Marmoush's early arrival in January would certainly hint that this would be the case, allowing him to have some bedding in time so that he is at full capacity by the time Salah leaves.

However, given the Reds currently have two players in each of the three forward positions as things stand, it might mean that Marmoush won't be arriving until next summer, and that the club may have just agreed a deal in principle for the Egypt international so they don't miss out.

Nonetheless, Plettenberg's recent update strongly suggests something regarding Marmoush is in the works, providing plenty of excitement for Reds fans over the coming days and weeks in the build up to the next transfer window.
