An overjoyed newlywed couple decided to celebrate their massive scratchcard win by celebrating at the place they spent their honeymoon.
Will Mahon, 56, and his new wife Emma, 50, had been together for 30 years before deciding to tie the knot in June this year. The couple, from Farnborough, Hampshire, are asking themselves if their massive on the Black Pearl National Lottery actually happened.
Their actual honeymoon of a cruise around Norway was not due until late September, so Will and Emma took themselves to local luxury hotspot The Aviator hotel on the night they were married.

At the hotel, the receptionist saw their wedding attire and upgraded them from their standard double room to a honeymoon suite. The couple loved this gesture and at the time they thought it to be another sweet addition to a brilliant day, so it was the natural place to return to when they found out about an amazing financial upgrade in the form of a scratchcard win.
Digger driver Will said: “Our wedding day was made that extra bit memorable when we were upgraded to the honeymoon suite. It only made sense to come back here and celebrate the fact that we can now splash out on a few more upgrades if we fancy it – thanks to this National Lottery Scratchcard win.”
Will, a DJ in his spare time, said his wife thought he was playing a prank on her when he found out they had won. He said: “I had left my van at my local pub on the Friday night after a late night of DJing, so on Saturday morning I was just waiting for the bus so that I could go and collect it. As I had a bit of time before it arrived, I decided to buy a few Scratchcards from the corner shop. I was excited enough after scratching the first one and winning £35, but it came as a complete surprise when I scratched away the £100,000 win on the next Scratchcard.”
He added: “When I eventually got on the bus I was in a complete daze and felt like I was going to pass out. I knew that if I did pass out, I might very well lose the ticket, so I tried my best to keep my cool!”
Emma then rang him to discuss what they could buy their grandchildren for . Will told her: “We can buy them whatever we like because I’ve just won £100,000.” Emma replied: “I don’t believe you!”
To make sure he wasn’t dreaming, Will showed the pub manager his scratchcard. When she confirmed it was real, the pub erupted in cheers.
With a sizeable chunk of the money left over, the couple said a previously booked a cruise around Spain and France paid off instalments could be paid for in full and possibly with another cabin upgrade. Will has also taken a week-long fishing trip with a friend to digest the news. Other plans include sharing the money with their two children, both 27.
Will, who bought the winning scratchcard from Totland Supermarket on Mayfield Road, Farnborough, Hampshire, said: “I think it has finally sunk in that the money is ours, and we’re so happy to be able to celebrate it with our family. We have had such an incredible year so far; with the wedding, the honeymoon and the room upgrade on our wedding night, and now we can make a few more upgrades in the future without hesitation thanks to the win.”
