Man Utd predicted XI for Crystal Palace clash as thumping Barnsley win provides huge clue

Send Push

Erik ten Hag will be looking to cap off a perfect week when Manchester United go to Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.

After heading into the international break off the back of consecutive defeats to Brighton and Liverpool, United have emerged from the break with two wins during which there were 10 goals scored and none conceded.

It has been a superb few days for the Dutchman, with Southampton beaten 3-0 on the south coast in the Premier League before Barnsley were swatted aside 7-0 in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, when Marcus Rashford and Antony grabbed morale-boosting goals.

Ten Hag also used the game to give a first start to midfielder Manuel Ugarte following his summer switch from Paris Saint-Germain, with the Uruguayan getting just over an hour under his belt following his cameo off the bench at St Mary's.

Ugarte should now make his first Premier League start for his new club at Selhurst Park, while Ten Hag could also look to rely on the confidence of Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho in front of goal after both netted braces in midweek.

Rashford started that clash against Barnsley as the centre forward, and Ten Hag will want him to ride the crest of a wave into the clash with the Eagles. He could start in attack over Joshua Zirkzee, while Rasmus Hojlund will be hopeful of a place on the bench after returning to training.

Having those two available in reserve could be key for Ten Hag as he looks to increase the options available to him, while although Antony will be hopeful of a start after his penalty against Barnsley, Amad Diallo continues to do enough to be picked on the right hand side.

With Ugarte joining Kobbie Mainoo in the centre, United's first choice defence is beginning to form behind them, with summer signing Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui again starting for the Red Devils in south London.

The Mirror's Man Utd predicted XI is: Man Utd (4-2-3-1): Onana; Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot; Ugarte, Mainoo; Garnacho, Fernandes, Amad; Rashford
