Loose Women star leaves panel gobsmacked over candid sex confession

Send Push

Loose Women star Mariella Frostrup left her co-stars red-faced and the studio audience in shock as she made a candid confession on the hit show.

Mariella was back on the panel alongside Nadia Sawalha, and Judi Love discussing a variety of matters. But when the ladies shared their thoughts on one-night stands and whether women are still stigmatised, the let things slip.

Talking about her previous sexual escapades, Mariella revealed that she may have used sex as a void to fill the hurt from losing her father at a young age. But what she said next made viewers gasp.

She said: "My dad died very young, I think I said that before when I was 15. And I spent a few misspent years thinking that was a good way of getting a kind of central male role- back into my body."

Stumbling on her words, the audience roared with laughter. Stepping in and quickly correcting her, Nadia added: "Missing the affection," to which Mariella agreed. Expanding further, Mariella spoke about how one-night stands are perceived.

She said: "I was trying to replace how you get affection back. But I think the thing that has changed enormously and I'm really happy about it, is that then it was a shameful thing. For a girl, it was a shameful thing to have a one-night stand. For a guy, it was a score.

"And I think that was very much the situation and for a girl you'd be embarrassed. You would sort of go 'Oh I can't believe I did that' and if they wouldn't call you, you'd feel really bad and you'd have the walk of shame but I think that has changed and sex is kind of normalised and boys are girls are much more comfortable."

But Nadia went on to explain that unfortunately, the stigma of women having one-night stands is still prevalent. However, she has been informed that women no longer shame each other as much as they once did which she deems as a positive step to young adults views on sex.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV1
