The Robins centre has been charged with ‘unnecessary contact with a player who is or maybe injured’ following the Old Trafford decider with Wigan. It refers to an incident in the 14th minute when Warriors’ Junior Nsemba was left injured following a tackle from James Batchelor.
Super League’s Young Player of the Year needed lengthy on-field treatment before being taken off for a head injury assessment.
To the surprise of many, Nsemba passed his HIA and returned to the field to help Wigan retain their title with a 9-2 victory. Hiku, 31, has enjoyed a brilliant debut season for KR and has just been called up by New Zealand for the Pacific Championships.
But he could now miss those games and potentially the start of next season. Hiku faces a tribunal to answer the Grade E charge which could result in a ban of three to five games.
Wigan prop Luke Thompson has also received a one match penalty notice for a Grade B dangerous contact which means he may miss England’s opening Test against Samoa. Bradford’s Jaden Myers has been referred to a tribunal for a Grade E dangerous throw/lift.
