Ex-prospect Ryan Kent finds himself clubless at just 27, after parting ways with Fenerbahce this week. The talented winger made the switch to the Turkish outfit only a year and a half ago, but couldn't cement his place in their squad, particularly once had been appointed.

Kent has mutually agreed to terminate his contract following a mere 18 games and one goal scored for Fenerbahce. He could now be plotting a course back to Rangers a club where he truly shone for six years, initially arriving on loan back in 2018.

Kent's journey kicked off at Liverpool when he was seven, climbing through the youth ranks to eventually make his debut under in a 2016 FA Cup match at Exeter.

  • After several loan stints at Coventry, Barnsley, Bristol City, and Freiburg, he finally settled at Rangers, impressing under another Anfield icon, Steven Gerrard.

Even Klopp gave Kent glowing reviews back in 2019, during Liverpool's pre-season run, enthusing about his contributions as a "wonderful player".

Klopp notably remarked: "Ryan had sensational moments in the Sevilla game one-on-one situations are his big strength," and further commended him saying, "He is a wonderful kid, a wonderful player. Very good moments in pre-season, but it is for all the boys always a big challenge as well to show up.

"They probably feel under pressure, which they shouldn't but it is natural that it happens. I am happy about that, absolutely."

After waving goodbye to Rangers, Kent penned a four-year deal as he joined Fenerbahce on a free transfer come May 2023. Kent's sole showing while Mourinho took charge at Fenerbahce was in a Champions League qualifier against Lugano back in August, yet the winger found himself substituted at the 68-minute mark.

Turkish media suggested Mourinho, with his storied history at clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United, wasn't too impressed by Kent's efforts on the pitch.

Kent was linked with a reunion with Gerrard in Saudi Arabia with the ex-Liverpool captain speaking highly of him in the past. He said in 2020: "Ryan is a player I admire very much. He's a player we've seen develop at Liverpool for a long time then brought him to Rangers.

"We showed a lot of faith in him and he progressed very very quickly. We gave him that freedom to go an express himself and he has."
