Cole Palmer passionate Chelsea interview in full as Sky Sports forced into on-air apology

Sky Sports presenter Kelly Cates was forced to issue an on-air apology after Chelsea winger Cole Palmer's passionate interview following

Palmer had not scored in the since January but tucked away his penalty with ease to seal the three points which could be vital in the race for Champions League football next season. After the match, a clearly passionate Palmer swore in response to a question from Sky Sports touchline reporter Patrick Davison.

"I just felt normal," said when asked about his goal and lack of them recently. "Obviously s*** happens, sorry for my language, it happens.

"I went three months without scoring but it just gives me more fight and motivation to do more for myself and for the team. Social media nowadays is full of idiots, the trolls and whatever.

"I don't pay any attention to that. I've scored today and I'm happy but it's only one and I've got to keep improving and try and reach new levels."

In the rest of the interview, Palmer reflected on what it has been like for him these past few months.

"Getting chances and not scoring, it feels like you're letting your team down," he explained. "I feel like I am mentally strong anyway.

"I feel pride in helping the team and if I'm not doing that, I'm not happy." After being awarded man of the match, Palmer felt that his performance was more in line with the high standards he sets himself.

"Today I felt confident, I was trying things, first time passes, playing forward," he concluded. "When you have got him [Moises Caicedo] in front of you, it's a dream. From the start of the season, he has been our best player, he wins the ball back all the time, he's humble, nice to everyone and everyone loves him."

When returning to the studio, host Kelly Cates apologised for Palmer telling the audience at home: "A player of the match performance from Cole Palmer there, we have to apologise again for the swearing."

The victory leaves Chelsea fifth in the Premier League table, three points ahead of Nottingham Forest who take on Crystal Palace on Monday evening.
