Big Brother's latest series kicked off on Sunday with a fresh set of contestants entering Britain's most iconic house, under the watchful eyes of hosts and .

The live launch introduced 16 new hopefuls ready to be cut off from the for the coming months, but as viewers tuned in on ITV2 and shared their thoughts on Reddit, it seems the line-up has left them less than impressed.

Criticism was levelled at the show for its lack of age diversity, with one viewer lamenting: "Really wish they put more of a variety of people in there with various ages. 95% of them being young is disappointing."

Another chimed in with concerns for the older contestant: "I feel bad for Emma, i'd feel a bit mother goose if I was in my 50s and everyone else was below 40. Poor age diversity from so far."

Comments continued to highlight the issue, with one person noting: "Age diversity so far is really disappointing," reports .

Another added: "The poor 53 year old with no one else even close to her own age." Further disappointment was expressed by a viewer stating: "Only 2 people over 30 so far? You can't really claim diversity if you're completely ignoring one spectrum."

Another questioned the casting choices: "How have they dropped the ball on casting so much this year? ? Did no one over 40 even apply or what."

In the current group, only Emma Morgan from Altrincham represents the over-50s at 53 years old. Alison 'Ali' Bromley, Dean Smith, and Marcello Spooks bring some representation for those in their 30s, while the majority, twelve contestants, are in their 20s.

The first episode of kicked off explosively, with unsuspecting housemates being mysteriously split from the get-go. Upon their arrival, each person had to select between a red or blue zone, which were separated by plush velvet ropes.

Intrigue was heightened as each new entrant was then coerced into convincing subsequent arrivals to choose their colour. Big Brother upped the ante by having them lock in their allegiance.

But the real jaw-dropper hit after all were settled in, when Big Brother revealed that the blues were the official 'housemates', while the reds were declared 'non-housemates. '

In a stunning twist, those aligned with the blue were promptly dispatched to "storage" and put straight in the line of fire for the season's initial public vote-off.

Big Brother continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX followed by Big Brother: Late & Live at 10pm.
