Big Brother housemates go head-to-head in challenge to dodge first eviction

Send Push

The Big Brother house is already buzzing with competition as two housemates go head-to-head in a battle to dodge eviction.

The iconic reality series returned to ITV2 on Sunday night (October 6) with 16 new housemates vying for the £100,000 cash prize. Upon entering the house, the housemates were faced with a twist that divided them into two groups: 'housemates' and 'non-housemates'.

As they arrived, they had to pick either the red or blue side of the house. After everyone chose a side, announced that the red side (11 housemates) would be sent to Storage as 'non-housemates', while the other five settled into the newly-painted house. With the non-housemates being at risk of being the first ones evicted.

Monday night's episode is set to divide the house even more as one non-housemate will have the opportunity to enter the house and avoid eviction, by facing up against a housemate in a game of deception.

The group decides that non-housemate Martha will face off against Ryan for a spot in the house. If Martha wins, she can choose two of her fellow non-housemates to join her in the house and avoid facing this week’s eviction. If Ryan wins, he will keep his place in the house.

During the challenge, Big Brother will place a giant cake between the contestants and blow it up. Blue team's Ali will then be invited in and asked who he believes blew up the cake.

Martha and Ryan must convince him that their opponent pressed the button that blew up the cake even though Big Brother was responsible.

Before entering the house, the pair were asked what their strategies for making it to the final. Ryan, 28, from Stockport shared that he would love to stay in the house until the final. Speaking to ITV2, he said: " I’d love to make it to the final and win it. I know a lot of it is out of my hands and it’s a public vote - the public aren’t stupid.

"People who have tried to play games in the past, it never works. It would be too hard to keep up a game so I’m going to be myself. If you vote me out for being me then that’s sound, I can live with that. If I go in there and try to play a game and get voted out I’ll be fuming! My strategy is to have no strategy."

Martha, 26, from Scarborough revealed that she didn't have much of a plan, "I’m going to go in and just be me and hope that’s OK."

Tune in tonight to find out who wins the challenge.

Big Brother broadcasts daily at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV X.
